Sophisticated and wholesale investors

Advice for substantial portfolios

For investors with significant wealth who want a disciplined portfolio, direct access to markets and an adviser who explains every decision.

What we do

  • Portfolio construction from a model portfolio built on Modern Portfolio Theory, tailored to your goals and timeframe.
  • Direct shares and bonds, including Australian Government and listed securities, alongside managed funds and ETFs.
  • Investor directed portfolio services and platforms, so everything is reported in one place.
  • Reviews of concentrated positions, legacy portfolios and investments others have recommended to you.
  • Liquidity planning, so you’re never forced to sell at the wrong time.
  • Insurance and estate planning that keep pace with your wealth.

Who counts as a wholesale investor?

Under the Corporations Act, you can generally be treated as a wholesale client if a qualified accountant certifies, within the last two years, that you have:

  • net assets of at least $2.5 million, or
  • gross income of at least $250,000 in each of the last two financial years.

Other tests apply to professional investors and some companies and trusts. These thresholds have been under review, so check the current rules.

Know what changes

Being a wholesale client is a trade-off

Wholesale status opens doors, but it also removes protections. Many of the law’s consumer safeguards, including the best interests duty and the requirement to give you a Statement of Advice, apply to retail clients only.

Before we treat you as a wholesale client, we’ll explain exactly what you gain and what you give up. You can ask to be treated as a retail client, and we’ll always put our advice in writing.

How fees work for larger portfolios

Ongoing advice is typically $2,000 to $20,000 plus GST a year, depending on the size and complexity of your portfolio. Stockbroking is charged at 0.5% to 2% of the trade, with a minimum of $125 plus GST. See all fees →
